I gave up on my Samsung Droid Charge when I purchased a used HTC Thunderbolt and loved it. I actually sold my Droid Charge, but happened to purchase a used one for resale on my Amazon store and was interested to see what the new Over The Air Update to Gingerbread looked like on the phone. So last night I took my 4G LTE SIM card out and placed it in the Droid Charge that I had on hand. After about 10 minutes it was complete. From what I had read, the update was going to be similar to EP4HA and it was. I knew this because I had downloaded the leaked updates and tried them on my Droid Charge in the past. The notification bar and many of the color schemes were the same as the Leaked Update. The GPS is a big deal to me and it appeared to be faster, but still not as fast as the Thunderbolt. I downloaded a number of apps that I use on a regular basis and it appeared the phone was faster than in the past, but it still was much slower than my HTC Thunderbolt. And finally the big test, Google Talk with Video Chat… NO VIDEO CHAT!!! WTF! The phone has a front facing camera and it cannot be used for video chat on Google Talk. I wouldn’t be surprised if it worked for Skype, but I will never go back to Skype after how they try to take over your computer creating phone number hyperlinks so they can charge you for making free phone calls. Back to my original problems with the Droid Charge: - I hade the push in buttons on the bottom of it
- No video chat with Google Talk
- Multi-applications running at the same time bog it down
The colors are horrible The GPS takes too long to get a fix I will take the heavier Thunderbolt for a phone that does everything that I want over one that is slightly lighter with a slightly better screen. |
