It still amazes me that Tim Tebow is not a starting quarterback in the NFL. Last week I saw this article about Tebow being a commentater for the SEC. It was just 2 years ago when Tebow led the Denver Broncos to an awesome come from behind playoff win with a pass that was on the money. Last year Tebow wasn't given a true chance with the Jets as they were dedicated to Marc Sanchez that has continued to let them down. This year, Tebow was released by the New England Patriots where he didn't have a chance of playing without some serious injuries in front of him. This year is also the year when Jacksonville Jaguars appear to have given up on their young quarterback as he went down due to injury.
Even before the injury, Jaguars fans were came to the stadium with signs of "Why Not Tebow?" For some reason, the Jaguars appeared not to be interested or even considering talking about Tim Tebow becoming a Jaguar. This is such an odd move for so many reasons.
The first reason is as simple as a business decision. Football is a business like anything. All businesses can benefit by more customers. In football customers are called fans. Tim Tebow is a local hero from Ocala and as a football God with the Florida Gators in nearby Gainesville . Jacksonville Jaguars would sell out nearly every game with Tim Tebow as their starting quarterback.
Quarterback in football is the most important position in football and the Tebow doubters claim that he is not a quality quarterback because his throws are bad. In game situations when the money is on the line, Tebow has proven to make plays at all levels of football including the NFL. Tebow is a winner and his winning attitude is infectious on every team he has been the starting quarterback. Winning sells more tickets and winning is what the Jacksonville Jaguars did not do enough of this season.
I brought this subject up with a friend at the gym and he asked me about the caliber of players on the Florida Gators and claimed that anyone could have been the quarterback. He claimed that the offensive line was filled with players that have made a huge impact with their NFL teams and the wide receivers may have been the fastest ever. So to me that sounds like a NFL team, so I guess what he was also saying is that the NFL doesn't have great lineman and fast receivers on the same team. Hmm.
Jacksonville should use there draft picks and get more speed at the wide receiver position and sign Tim Tebow. They did a great job with there recent running back draft to go with Jones-Drewes. Unfortunately Rolando Blackman was a bust due to his drug issues, but he was a difference maker when he played. Get some more break away speed for Tebow to throw to and let's win the division next year.
