As expected, Donald Sterling is going to try to defend his ownership of the LA Clippers after making racist
remarks that were released to the public.

Sterling was fined $2.5 million by the NBA and banned for life. Then Sterling went on air to apologize while attacking the morality of Magic Johnson. I don't understand how someone having an extra-marital affair with someone a third of his age and got brought out publicly can talk about another person's lifestyle of more than 25 years ago.
Never the less, Sterling is refusing to pay the fine levied by the NBA and is ready to go to court as shown on ESPN below.

So what is next for the Clippers? Nobody associated with the team will remain with the team for next season if Sterling is still the owner of the Clippers. The NBA will allow everyone associated with the Clippers to break their contracts and leave the team. The NBA could experience a strike that will devastate the league especially since the NBA is at an all time high in popularity. So what are some possible scenarios?
1 - The Lakers don't have a coach and very few players returning from this past season. The Clippers could
become the Lakers. This could happen a number of ways if the NBA will relieve the contracts of the current players and coaches, they may sign with the Lakers as free agents. This might leave the league imbalanced though missing a team.
2 - The Seattle Super Sonics will be born again. The sale of the Clippers
may not be forced with Sterling going to court to stop the action by the NBA, but Seattle could be granted a team with the right investors and transfer all of the players and coaches to the new Sonics with new contracts. This would mean that Sterling would have no rights to sell the Clippers and basically end up with nothing. That is a big change from the $575 million it is estimated that the Clippers are worth.
What ever happens, it won't be soon enough. This situation could drag out for years especially with Sterling's wife filing for divorce and wants to maintain her half of the team. That would not be possible according to the NBA if Donald Sterling is forced to sell the Clippers. There is big money involved so let's see if the court system acts faster, but this is at least a year from being resolved if the Sterlings are going to fight.
