Some smokers say that they don't buy cigarettes. They bum them off others which make them bums, but still doesn't excuse the insanity. History has shown that you will get cancer from smoking and the tobacco companies were sued for a lot of money in the past, but they are probably so thankful for it as nobody can go after them again for it.
According to cancer.gov, 40.8% of men and women will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. That means that 2 out of 5 people will experience cancer and the probability increases exponentially of those who use tobacco products. Stats don't hurt though.
Dealing with cancer becomes a pain worse than death as your pain is not contained within your body, but everyone feels the pain of losing a loved one for a longer period of time. Many people think that there will be a cure by the time they get diagnosed. There is no cure and there will be no cure.
The world today is about relieving pain and not fixing much. Health and science has not evolved over the years as we do not have any more cures than we had since the plague. Instead we have thousands more diseases being recognized, millions more drugs to cope, and many more side effects that we have other drugs to cope with that create a new set of side effects that are similar to the original problem in many cases.
Regardless, the only reasonable solution is elimination. Smoker's must eliminate tobacco from their life or they will suffer the consequences. I know that there is not enough satisfaction from smoking to have to deal with that much pain, but as long as it is out of site it is out of mind.
There should be a license requirement to use tobacco to the point that you have to
complete a course that includes visiting cancer treatment facilities and see those who are suffering from their past decisions. Statistics should be included for each case and a written exam should be required to obtain the final license. Continuing education every 2 years should be required to complete to keep the license valid and the license may be picked up at a local cancer treatment facility. A tobacco license would be a great stimulus for any economy as it would put more people
to work, possibly reduce tobacco related cancer and may also reduce the cost of healthcare. If the number of tobacco users were cut in half, it would be a success. Selfish is the proper word to describe a smoker. Especially if someone were to continue to smoke after seeing the pain that they are guaranteed of suffering in the future. Selfish to think that smoking outside keeps the smoke away from their children when they come inside with the horrible smell of smoke.
