Smart Irrigation is Worth It

  1. Contact your local water company (in Orlando for me its Orange County Public Utilities) and get a separated water meter for your sprinklers so you don't have to pay waste water to use your spinklers. The process will cost you less than $400, but you will recoop that in the first year. This requires no maintenance compared to a well just for your sprinklers that the pump may need to be replaced or have to redrill into the ground when your well runs dry. lol
  2. Save more money with Rachio WiFi Smart Lawn Sprinkler Timer. This timer connects to your WiFi and you can set it to water specifically as your lawn needs.
    • Rain sensors fail to work, but the Rachio system monitors rainfall based on data gathered from the Internet. Based on the information, it may skip watering or water each section for a reduced amount of time due to a little rain in the area.
    • Timer setting can be used to water at the optimal time which it recommends to be done before the sun rises in the morning. That time changes every week and it knows when is the best time to start.
    • Eliminate waste during windy conditions. This is a setting in the system that you can set it not to water if it is windy.
    • If you have a new lawn, you might want to water more and you can set it up automatically or manually through your smart phone or tablet.
    • It can connect to your smart home devices including Samsung SmartThings, Google Home and Alexa.
    • Your grass will be greener with less work!
