With the newer and better 4k smart TVs today is causing more and more people to become cord cutters. Cord cutters turn to Netflix first to provide movie content as they watch on the phone, tablets and smart TVs. The device manufacturers constantly are trying to improve to be on the cutting edge of technology pushing as many pixels as possible in the smallest areas.
If you have a phone that is less than 2 years old, you probably have a phone capable of producing ultra high definition video. Unfortunately because of the tightly packed pixels, one can not see the difference of 4k in their mobile device. Purchasing a 4k plan does not make sense to watch on a phone, but it sounds like a great thing if you have 4k TV's in your house.
Having 4k TVs is more for the smart apps to be able to watch TV the way you want which is great for cord cutters. As a cord cutter, we have Netflix ability on every TV in the house and when I want to watch it on my 55" TV, I want it to fill the whole screen and not get letter box view. Because of the letterbox view, I have cut back our Netflix plan to the HD after trying 4k for a couple of months.
