Samsung Omnia Goes Out – In comes Samsung Fascinate

I really enjoyed my Samsung Omnia. Unfortunately, it was time for an upgrade. My GPS did not work right most of the time. Bing did not work at all unless I used it in the web browser. And I really wanted to shift to an Android phone. So for my birthday in August, I bought myself a new HTC Incredible. I wanted a Samsung phone since my Omnia, my TV's, wife's monitor,... I like the quality of Samsung. But until last week, they did not have a new phoen with Verizon, so I got the HTC Incredible.

I downloaded a ton of apps within the first few days of getting my new phone. Some of my favorites include the "Coupon App." I have saved at least $20/week since getting my phone. My other favorite app is the "Craigslist Finder" app that saves your search and alerts you when there is a new post in your area that contains your search words. We found a glass table, some equipment and other stuff for cheap with it. My 3rd favorite app is the "Yard Sale" app that locates different garage sales and integrates between the Craigslist ad and Google Maps to help you locate the garage sale. Of course I downloaded a ton of free games. They all are ad supported which is not that big of a deal. In college, we had a saying, "If its free, its for me!" If you don't like the little ads, they pay the people for their efforts in developing the software.

There was a small issue when the phone had an update to the new Android 2.2 software. My phone locked up, could not make a call, the keyboard did not work and it was useless. Thankfully it was within my first 30 days and they swapped it out for free in the store. I was thankful for that! Afterwards I was wondering if I made the right choice in getting the Incredible versus the Droid X. The Droid X already comes preinstalled with Android 2.2. I really like the size of the Incredible though. Then first football game of the new season on Thursday came on... And magically appeared the new Samsung Fascinate! And Verizon has a buy one get one free in the same ad! The only drawback of the new Samsung Fascinate is that the camera is only a 5 megapixel versus the 8 on my Incredible. The Fascinate is slimmer and a slightly bigger screen than the Incredible.
