Thunderbolt, Lost It’s Energy with Delays

Verizon Wireless appears to be last with introducing 4G to their customers along with AT&T.  Verizon started selling the 4G stand alone service with new modems months ago.  The cat was let out of the bag by last Sunday’s Best Buy advertisement of the HTC Thunderbolt to be released on Thursday, February 24th with a 2 year contract price of $249.

Thursday came and Best Buy did not have the Thunderbolt.  It was not even shown on their website or Verizon Wireless’ website.  Not only was it a disappointment, but in other technology news on the Internet was Apple’s Thunderbolt, a new high speed communication technology to be incorporated in future computers.  It will be interesting to find out if any legal issues will come between HTC and Apple.

On the 24th, reps from Best Buy did not have solid answers on when the Thunderbolt would be finally released.  They also were not sure if the phone was going to be able too support using the Internet while talking on the phone at the same time.  Apparently the pricing of the plans is a question mark also as it is believed that their may be an up charge for the 4G service.  This might lead to more frustration as Verizon still have not offered reduced fees/service Internet plans.

In Sunday, February 27th, Best Buy advertisement the Thunderbolt is shown again with a price of $299 on a 2 year contract and an availability date of March 10th, 2011.  So the price is higher and we still don’t know what kind of quirks and misfortunes will come with this phone as the HTC Evo and Incredible had this past Summer.  The HTC Thunderbolt is already given grief over it’s processor being a single core when AT&T has already released their 4G phone with a dual core processor.

One thing for sure, when the Thunderbolt is released, the network will work since that is what Verizon is famous for.  Not only will it work, but it will work inside most homes as I have personally seen the T-Mobile and Sprint wireless networks do not give good reception in my home and there are 2 towers less than a mile from my home.
