I was excited to get my first Android based phone last summer, the HTC Incredible. It was a difficult decision since the HTC Evo came out by Sprint with 4G. I made the right choice and stuck with Verizon and bought the HTC Incredible. I rarely have issues with my phone service with Verizon. It is so good that I don’t have a home phone any longer.
When the HTC Thunderbolt was about to come out last month, I thought that I would want to get it. I went to the store and after playing with it for a few minutes, I did not see that it was any better than my Incredible. After examining further, the Thunderbolt is the same phone as the Evo. Yes the network is far better, but the phone may only differ by screen resolution and memory.
The Thunderbolt is almost the same as my Incredible since the Evo was the same with the network exception. This is really bad since the screen is bigger and uses more power along with the 4G. I have learned how to conserve battery power by turning off different settings, but I don’t believe that is reasonable.
I really don’t believe that this phone is using the same technology that was available a year ago with the exception of the network. Why doesn’t it have a LED screen. A high resolution LCD screen still is not an LED screen. A true LED screen is brighter and uses less power. It is a lighter screen too. Look at the new Samsung Droid Charge compared to the HTC Thunderbolt.
