Verizon has the best network by far. There are many times when I am talking on the phone when other friends who have Spring, AT&T or T-Mobile have to step outside to take their calls. Every so often someone asks me if I can use my phone inside because they can not get a signal. I tell them “yes, but I have Verizon. Who do you have? Oh, that’s why.”
I did notice that when I upgraded my phone last summer, the termination fee has increased from $200 to $350. That should not be that big of a deal since I am so happy with Verizon. What was a big deal is that everyone knew that Verizon was going to get the iPhone4 in 2011. Therefore your decision was stuck to you for 2 years unless you want to be a prick to pay the termination fee because you have to have an iPhone4.
What about if you had waited for the iPhone4? You got suckered too as everything is moving to 4G service and the iPhone4 came to Verizon near the beginning of 4G LTE. And as Apple does every year, they will probably have an iPhone5 this summer and it will probably be 4G capable. But you have the early cancellation fee as well if you go the iPhone4 and want to go to the new iPhone5.
And those who still wait for a 4G phone are getting suckered too depending on how long they wait. For those who purchase the HTC Thunderbolt are just purchasing last year’s technology on the fastest 4G network. Still an old phone. Samsung’s Droid Charge is also using last year’s technology with their processor, but they are the best when it comes to LED screens. Unfortunately they might be marginally better too. The Motorola will come out with the new Nvidia dual core chip that probably will use more power but be really great for games. The LG phone will be the first 4G phone, so that should use more power too.
No matter which 4G phone you get, I am sure there will be a better one that you will want by Christmas. Hopefully you can do it without having to pay a steep penalty to upgrade. It is bad enough that Verizon has taken away the '”new every too” discount and yet they have increased the fee to break your contract. It makes the insurance more valuable.
Verizon Wireless is certainly positioning themselves to make bigger profits!
