Some of the flagrant calls the referees make get followed up by the league office with a fine. Is it enough? I believe that a monetary fine is not enough in some cases that result in an injury of another player.
An example is when Dunta Robinson for the Atlanta Falcons hit LeSean Jackson with the Philadelphia Eagles last year. Robinson got fined $50,000 which got reduced to $25,000 after his appeal. Jackson misses a number of games as a result of the hit.
Flagrant fouls that result in a injury, the player in fault should be suspended from playing the same number of games the injured player misses due to their injury. There would have to be a maximum number of games like 10. I think that this would reduce the number of bone-head plays that certain players continue to make.
