Is Wal-Mart Too Expensive?

For year I love to go to Wal-Mart to buy the things I need, but lately that hasn’t been the case. Everyone is trying to blame the economy for something. More people tend to go to Wal-Mart looking to stay in their budget so why can’t they have enough cashiers to accommodate the people?

Just a couple of nights ago my wife and I went to Wal-Mart while we were out to pick up a couple of florescent lights for our closet. We were quite happy there was a nice variety of them. The problem rose when we went to check out with a number of college students, there were only 4 lines open and it was only 9pm! I told my wife that Wal-Mart did not need to make a profit off of us if they could not service their customers better and we left.

A couple of days later, I stopped at Home Depot and found comparable florescent lights and when I looked at the price, they were almost $2 cheaper. I then used the self checkout line and was out very quickly. I was very happy with my Home Depot experience and prefer to do business with them for everything that I can.

I was going to pickup milk that same day and thought I would just go to Wal-Mart to get it. Thankfully my wife texted me while I was at Home Depot to say that CVS has a sale on TG Lee milk for $3.29 which I know is cheaper than Wal-Mart’s generic milk. And I did not have to go through Wal-Mart’s annoyingly business parking lot and wait in line for one item.

Over time I am finding myself at Wal-Mart much less and believe it will be to a point where I never go to Wal-Mart. I would think that people who said they never go to Wal-Mart were stuck up because they had the best prices. I am learning that they knew something that I am finding out for myself.
