I have been happily married for over 5 years. My wife had 3 teenage children when we met and I was 30 years old. Therefore I was not an established father figure, but it didn't keep me from trying to be the best I could for them.
The youngest of the 3 graduated high school last summer. He had lived with his grandparents in the next town before I met my wife. He was going to try to move forward and go to college.
Then he got his girlfriend pregnant. Technically that would make me the baby's grandpa. I continue to hold on to my youth tightly and will forever be 21+!
I told my wife that the baby should not call me grandpa. Her children don't call me Dad although they will refer to me as their step-dad. I told my wife the grandchild should call me Dude. Not Old Dude because I will never be old. He can just call me Dude.
