Being a long time Los Angeles Lakers fan, I didn’t like the Celtics as they would win the championship beating my team a couple of times. That problem was transferred to the Detroit Pistons in the late 80's. The Shaq - Kobe lead Lakers brought back the winning ways to LA. Shaq left and then the Boston Celtics got better quickly with the addition of Kevin Garnet and Ray Allen. They just came into that season expecting to beat everyone. The Lakers were in the way despite being weak in the center position.
By the way, that was the only year the Celtics won the championship with this newly formed group. The next year my second favorite team beat the Celtics to lose to my Lakers in the championship. Then the Celtics came back and lost to my Lakers. The rivalry is always heated in my heart, but that's not all. The players make the Celtics more hated.
Many of the players embrace the personality of their coach, Doc Rivers. Many times in most games, the referees miss calls and make bad calls. Apparently Rivers believes the Celtics are incapable of any wrong doing. HE COMPLAINS ON EVERY CALL AGAINST THE CELTICS! EVERY CALL!
I was completely shocked the Boston Celtics traded Kendrick Perkins because he was just an extension of Doc Rivers. Perkins argues every foul he commits. And the Celtics Paul Pierce is even worse. Pierce not only cried about every call against him, when he would get stuck dribbling the ball, he would bobble his head violently to get a referee to call a foul even when he wasn't touched. Pierce would also bobble his head leaning towards an opponent pushing the ball weakly towards the goal so he could shoot free throws.
More about the Celtics cheating ways... With the best 3 point shooter in the history of the NBA, the Celtics must set screens to get Ray Allen open. There is no team that sets as many moving screens. Every team knows of the Celtics dirty screens and defenders will run wider to get around them, but the big men for the Celtics will still step into a defender as they run by. Even though Perkins is no longer with the Celtics, he still sets bad screens.
Eddie House made it even worse when he would hit a quick 3 pointers and then taunt the opposing player. But I do see some good in the Celtics and his name is Rondo. I believe Rondo is the toughest player in the league. I have seen him hyperextend his arm and continue to play. He is the only player that plays through more pain than Kobe Bryant.
