From an early age we are programmed to go to school to get good grades so you may go to college to get a degree so you may get a good job. This is a brainwashing that has gone on for a number of years. Having a college degree, I do not feel that I am above someone else who doesn't have a college degree because the work I do is not a result of a degree. I am proud to be self employed as there is another way to make a living than slaving for someone else.
I do not believe it is wrong to work a job if that makes you happy. I do want people to know that a degree doesn't guarantee that you are entitled to a better job. With the economy and job market the way it has been for the past ten years, there are plenty of applicants who have a degree with experience as those fresh out of school.
How do you get experience if you can't get your first job? This is a question that many young college graduates have faced for years and will continue to face for years to come. The answer is to make sure that you get an internship before graduating college.
What if you have graduated college already and have loan repayments staring at you in the next 6 months? Graduate school is far too expensive to do just to get a internship, so go back to school to take a couple more classes to get internship. You don't have to even go to the same school you graduated from as plenty of community colleges offer upper level classes and internship programs.
With the internship, it is possible to gain experience being fresh out of college.
