Disappointment: Samsung S7 Edge from a Note 4 User

Ad blocker made news last month for blocking ads through Samsung's stock browser. That stock browser is not on the new S7 or S7 Edge.

The S7 Edge is slightly smaller than the Note 4, which doesn't allow easy access to the app switcher button.  The use of the edge is cool, but it's not perfect. I miss the app switcher being available on the hidden menu of the Note 4. The camera cannot be opened in multi window as with older Samsung phones.

The keyboard took a big step back with the S7 Edge as you can not hit the "1" key without using both hands unless you use it in one hand input mode. The problem with one hand input is the keys become so small that you can't see them.

The beauty of Android is speaking commands.  Samsung moved the microphone button behind the settings key on the keyboard also. I love the use of Swiftkey, but love Samsung's take in the Note 4 better.

Now on Tap for Android 6.0.1 is a disappointment on the Samsung S7 Edge because it doesn't do anything for Instagram or other similar apps. I believe this is more of a problem with Now on Tap that can and will be fixed by Google soon. It is a disappointment coming from a Note 4 that allows me to select text from anywhere with the S Pen.

I am happy to see S Note is available on most Samsung devices. Unfortunately the option to open a new S Memo is not available as you must use the Memo app built in the S7.

I was looking forward to setting up Samsung Pay as the NFC of my Note 4 hasn't worked in months. I was able to set up Android Pay, but Samsung Pay is not available on the S7 Edge for Verizon on the release. I also wanted to activate Samsung Pay to take advantage of the Samsung offer of a free wireless charger.  That may not happen if Samsung Pay doesn't become available before Friday as Thursday is the last day of the promotion.

Obviously, when you purchase a new wireless device, you activate it before you leave the store. I love the fingerprint security to lock my device and the Smart features that keep it from requiring your fingerprint for upto 4 hours if you set it to recognize when you are home or connected to your Bluetooth car or favorite headset. I don't understand why every Samsung device that I buy I have to factory reset it when I get home to make sure that it works right. This has happened with my Tab S2, Gear S2 and now this S7 Edge. The S7 is no different.

I moved everything from my Note 4 to the SD card to install on the new S7 using Smartswitch. It did not work well, but the sync adapter worked best to move data from my old Note 4 to the new S7 Edge.

I have not opened the free Gear VR which was a great selling point for me along with the larger battery. As of this moment, I plan on taking the S7 back and wait for the Samsung Note 6 or Nexus device.
