The St. Louis Cardinals won the World Series in 7 games this past week. Now the biggest concern of the franchise is keeping Albert Pujols as he become a free agent today. Pujols is the best hitter for the past decade and has just about written his name into the Hall of Fame. But since the Cardinals did not come to terms with him before the season and now are in jeopardy of losing him to another team that will pay more money.
The Dodger, Angels, and the Diamondbacks are a few that have the ability to get Pujols number, but there is no reason to believe that the Cardinals wouldn't have enough to keep him. What would happen if Pujols doesn't resign with the Cardinals?
If Pujols doesn't sign with the Cardinals, the team will move on. Their manager, Tony Larussa has done a fine job with what he has had in the past. He has shown that Pujols doesn't have to do all of the power hitting on the team for them to win. He did hire Mark McGwire as his hitting coach and still has Dave Duncan as his pitching coach. The rest of the team is solid, so even if Pujols doesn't come back, it is not enough for Tony Larussa to pack his fishing gear and retire on a lake somewhere. Besides isn't he still 30 years younger than Leyland who is still managing the Tigers?
Pulojs will come back!
