After reading so much lately who Wal-Mart underpays their employees, I felt like minimum wage reform should be directed to them more than the country as a whole.
I recently had some dental work done and my mouth is still sore a few days later. I used my last Advil, so I decided to stop by Wal-Mart around 12:30am to pick up a new bottle and possibly get some new shorts. I didn't like that they had you walk through a maze to get into the store because they were cleaning the floor near the registers on the grocery side.
I found the shorts I liked where normally they don't have my size and I picked up and walked to the other side of the store to get a new bottle of Advil. As I walked over to the registers I saw that the lines were long and there were only 2 of them. I felt this was so wrong that a company that makes crazy profits like Wal-Mart does should under serve their customers like that with only 2 registers open and the self checkout lines were all closed.
In disgust I threw my items into the clothing area near the registers and proceeded to walk through the crazy maze to get out and leave. If I really want to, I can come back or go to a different store like near the airport where the stores appear nicer than the one near UCF.
I get home and open up my browser to the money section of MSN.com and find this article about how Wal-Mart is struggling.

That made me happy. At the same time I remember that when I was looking for a new bottle of Advil, there was the regular pills and the gel caps and in about 5 different quantities. And next to each name brand bottle was Wal-Mart's version, Equate.
Really!!! Why are there so many different types and quantities? And the Equate version is between 30 to 45% less than the name brand version. And it is not just for Advil, but for all of the different types of name brand medicine. I don't know that any of it really makes sense.
If profits are down, why do they have to keep prices so low on their generic stuff? I will buy their generic brand more times than not and I would probably still buy it it I only saved 25% rather than 40%. But I will not buy it if it is a hassle to pay for it.
Beside the hassle of trying to pay for your items, Wal-Mart as a hole appears to have lost a lot since Sam Walton died years ago as you don't even have the old people that said "Hello" to you at the door. I think my old classmate, Daniel Tosh of Tosh.O is right. I will turn Democrat and start shopping at Target.
